A Family in Crisis: Your Support Made All the Difference

I am writing to you in a moment of deep hardship and desperation, hoping that my story touches your hearts as much as your kindness has touched ours.

My name is ......., and I live in Prestwich with my family. My husband is a teacher, and I was working in a local school until recently. Our lives changed dramatically when one of our children became severely ill and has been hospitalised for many months. Juggling hospital visits, caring for my child, and managing household responsibilities has been overwhelming. During this difficult time, I lost my job, and I have been waiting for a decision on my Universal Credit claim for months now.

To make matters worse, my husband has also fallen gravely ill with a debilitating condition and is now bed-bound, with no income and no help. As bills and expenses continue to mount, we found ourselves in a state of crisis. I received a disconnection notice from the utility company, leaving us with no electricity, no refrigerator to store food, and no heating for the cold winter ahead.

The stress and fear became almost unbearable. I ran to the shop to buy food for my children, but my bills were maxed out, and they refused to give me credit. My credit cards were also maxed, and I had no money. Standing in line at the store, unable to pay for groceries, was the most humiliating and heartbreaking experience I have ever faced.

At home, the situation is even more dire. My children are hungry, my husband is unwell, and I cannot even afford to travel to visit our child in hospital. I feel helpless and overwhelmed, unsure of what the future holds.

In my desperation, I turned to the L'Chaim Foodbank, and I humbly begged for help. Your kindness has been a lifeline for our family—providing food and utility support during our darkest hours. I cannot thank you enough for saving us from despair.
